What does Math Club do?

Some of the basic rules

1. There are 4 rounds, each 15 minutes.

a) 3 individual rounds (There are 4 questions, question 1 is worth 1 point, question 2 is worth 2 points, and so on. So each individual round is worth 10 points.)

b) 1 team round (There are 6 questions; each question is worth 10 points.)

2. NO CALCULATORS.

3. 8 students to a team.

4. The #1 team can have no more than 4 seniors.

5. There are 3 divisions for individual scores. (12th grade, 11th grade, and everyone else) Medals from each meet go to the top five scores.

6. Fraction answers should be reduced and radicals simplified. Decimals are accepted only if they are exact, for example .25 is ok for ¼, but .333 is not ok for 1/3.

7. Competition is usually done around 7:20.

8. For the season:

a) Individual scores are added up, the lowest score is dropped.

b) If an individual misses a meet, then that is their dropped score.

c) 16 students are designated as All-Metro.

9. HAVE FUN!!!!
